Adopt a garden

What is Adopt A Garden?

We are seeking volunteers to keep our perennial pollinator gardens looking great. Tasks include occasional weeding and pruning as needed. There is no experience required. Someone will meet up with you to get you set up and help you learn what to do. Estimated time commitment is around an hour a week in spring and fall, and an hour a month in summer and winter. Commitments vary based on the garden you choose.

Why?

We want to make sure the perennial pollinator gardens are beautiful, not only for those of us who enjoy walking, jogging, or cycling on the trail, but also for the many insects (bees, butterflies, dragonflies, etc.), small mammals, and birds who call our area of North Dallas home. Occasionally weeds begin to creep in and we want to make sure they don’t start taking over.

How to help:

We welcome community support and feedback. Please volunteer with us to help maintain the perennial pollinator gardens or the wildflower meadows. We can schedule work days with your neighborhood volunteers to keep the gardens and meadows in your area looking tidy. We could also use your financial support to maintain the flower beds, purchase new plants, and keep the trail looking beautiful.

Friends of Northaven Trail is a 100% volunteer run organization and requires community support to function. You can reach out to us here to plan your neighborhood workday, either in a garden, or in a wildflower meadow. And you can sign up for our landscaping volunteers email list.
